I am so blessed to see another day. I pray God uses me to bless others today in one way of another. All of God and none of me.
I woke up this morning with a question in my mind. “Why do we do the things we do especially for others?” The sermon Minster Asher preached quickly came to mind and heart - "Are you a man pleaser or a God pleaser?" Although this message was a few weeks/months ago it stuck with me. God has really been working on this area of my life because I used to do everything and anything to please people. I wanted to seek their approval and acceptance. I wanted to make them happy. The problem with this is that no matter what you do people's happiness is only temporary. They only remember the now moment. Let something happen and it will outweigh the good you do. In Minister Asher's Message she said a lot of key points (I really wish I tapped the sermon) however, she pointed out a very important truth, if you are pleasing people then you are not pleasing God.
My problem was, "I" was trying to please instead of letting God use me to bless others. There is a big difference. When we try to do things own our own, we are playing "god", in other words I am trying to make things work instead of letting God work them out. ("And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" Romans 8:28). When we do things with wrong intentions, we expect something out of what we do. We may not realize it but it can be as simple as an acknowledgment, acceptance, praise, or as deep as a favor in return. We get offended or hurt with the reaction or lack of reaction based on what we do. But "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." - Matthew 5:8
I realized that I am not this way anymore; I am being delivered from it daily. I do not do things for people with the expectation of getting anything in return but I did notice that when I used to write and sent out messages to help or encourage people the least I expected (wrong intention) was to get some recognition. I have never been one to express myself and what is in my heart. I didn't feel like what I had to say was worth writing about, not only that I didn't feel adequate enough to write. The adversary knew my weakness and was trying to detour me from what I was asked to do by God which is help others. The Holy Spirit made me realize that all of my writing was to help myself. The more I stop waiting for the appreciation from others, the easier it would flow, and God would be able to use the words to help at least one person that I know of, and many that don't express it. Hebrews 6:10 says "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them."
To answer my question, "Why do we do the things we do especially for others?" I do what I do to please God and be obedient to his word. Anything else is a bonus and not required. I may not be the strongest or the best writer, but my intension is to please God with all my gifts and He knows my heart. "… 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'” ~Matthew 25:21

Bible Verses
Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.~ 1 Thessalonians 4:1-2~
12Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. 13Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 14And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.
16Be joyful always; 17pray continually; 18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
19Do not put out the Spirit's fire; 20do not treat prophecies with contempt. 21Test everything. Hold on to the good. 22Avoid every kind of evil.
23May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
25Brothers, pray for us. 26Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss. 27I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers.
28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-28
